TVS Motor, a trusted and reliable engineering company, launched the TVS iQube in 2020. This e-scooter has undergone extensive and rigorous testing, and it is supported by the manufacturer’s vast service network. This makes it a very appealing choice in the EV segment.

Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director of TVS Motor, has revealed that the company’s goal is to diversify its 2-wheeler portfolio with different fuel options. In January 2023, TVS Motor (Singapore), a wholly owned subsidiary of TVS Motor Company, made a strategic long-term investment in Ion Mobility, a tech and automotive OEM start-up, to show its commitment to electrification.

According to Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director of TVS Motor, Ion Mobility is a full-stack EV company with a strong engineering team and technical base in Singapore, to drive the growth of premium electric two-wheelers in the region.

The foundation was set in 2021, when the Managing Director of TVS Motor unveiled the TVS iQube to the public in September, on World EV Day.

At the launch event, Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director of TVS Motor, said “The launch of the new TVS iQube is a proof of our commitment to offering world-class EV technology with never-before intelligent and personalized connected experience. TVS Motor has been investing in electric technologies for more than 10 years now; TVS iQube has provided thousands of customers with an unparalleled electric riding experience. TVS Motor will continue to set new standards in connected mobility and EV with our innovation and advanced technology”.

As Mr Sudarshan Venu mentioned, the company sees a bright future for electric 2-wheelers in India. That’s why the manufacturer has entered the battery-operated scooter market with the introduction of the iQube. There are two variants available right now — the standard iQube and the iQube S, while the top-spec iQube ST is expected to be launched soon. The iQube’s handling reflects TVS Motor Company’s expertise in motorsport and excellent chassis design.

The TVS iQube makes a strong impression for daily use; it offers a realistic driving range of 100km on Eco Mode and 75km on Power Mode, which is sufficient for the small daily runs in the city. To address the customer’s range anxiety, the company has integrated a carry-along charger, which comes in 3 power options:

· 650W: charges under 5 hours.

· 950W: charges in 4 hours.

· 1500W: charges in 2.5 hours.

The battery management system developed by TVS Motor has a unique feature — it can isolate low and high voltage to reduce the chances of short- circuits, which can reassure customers who may be hesitant about going electric.

The entire technology development, BMS (battery management system), has been done indigenously by the TVS R&D team and the company promises 50,000km of warranty. TVS Motor has strong in-house product and technology capabilities to build a portfolio of electric vehicles and is also working on creating an ecosystem for battery recycling along with the development of its new EV portfolio.
